  • HMHS ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY.
     

    On March 28, 2009 our classmate Jeanne LeCato Myers will be inducted into the HMHS Athletic Hall of Fame! 

    Jeanne will be among 6 former HMHS athletes and 2 former coaches to be inducted into the HMHS Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday, March 28 at Tavistock Country Club.

    At HMHS Jeanne played 3 years of varsity field hockey and basketball and 4 years of varsity tennis. 10 varsity letters. She was the captain of the field hockey team for her junior and senior years and captain of the basketball and tennis teams for her senior year. Jeanne was also our Junior Class Secretary, a member of the National Honor Society, a NJ Girls' State Representative, and played the clarinet in the school band and orchestra- a true scholar/athlete! 

    Jeanne went on from HMHS to play varsity field hockey, tennis and badminton at Ursinus College.  Jeanne, now a resident of Farmington Hills, Michigan, has been a NCAA and USGA rules official for golf and was honored when selected as Captain of the 2006 USA Women's World Amateur Team. Jeanne was unable to attend our 2006 50th Reunion, because she had to be in South Africa, serving as Captain of the USA Women's Golf Team in the World Amateur Championship. Also, Jeanne has previously been inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.  

    Jeanne will be the 3rd HMHS '56 Athletic Hall of Fame member, as she joins HMHS '56 classmates Chick Sherwood (Mount Pleasant, MI)(inducted in 1994) and Larry Stuart (Lake Forest, CA)(inducted in 1996). Jeanne will also join her sister, Carol, Class of 1955 (inducted in 1996).

    The Saturday, March 28 HMHS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Tavistock Country Club will have the following schedule: 

    6 pm- Reception/Social Hour- Cash Bar.
    7 pm- Banquet and Induction    .

    Banquet tickets are $45 per person and can be reserved by contacting Maria DelDuca at (856) 428-2917 or at dod2@comcast.net . Maria is with the HMHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

    All classmates are encouraged to attend to support Jeanne's wonderful accomplishment.  Per the above, we will have Class of '56 tables reserved for classmates.

    On behalf of the Class of '56, we have already contracted for a full page congratulatory ad in the Induction Program.  

    Several classmates have come forward and have contributed toward the cost of the ad ($100).  If anyone would like to contribute $10 or $20 towards the ad cost, please let Pierce know. If we receive in excess of $100, the residual will be put into our Class Fund.

  • H.M.H.S. SPRING CONCERT.

  • CLASS GIFT.

    - General.

        Many of us feel honored to have graduated from our “hallowed institution.”  We looked for ways to give back to HMHS and today’s youth.  We recall Miss Gist’s admonition: “If you’re the ‘cream of the crop’, I’d hate to see the ‘skimmed milk’.”  Nonetheless, we did survive, and now it is time to give back.  Baird Foster is to be commended for spear-heading this project and for researching and establishing the Class of 1956 Scholarship for Further Education in Music.  Not only did he accomplish that mission, but also he provided that information to the Haddonfield Alumni Association (HAS) so that other classes would not have to “reinvent the wheel” and could learn from our experience.
     
    - Background.

        Our 50th Reunion Class Gift to HMHS of $5,600 was made in October of 2006. Up to the March 2007 beginning of our "Matching  Gift Challenge", an additional $620 was donated to our Music Scholarship Fund. 
     
    - Matching Gift Challenge.

        All classmates were sent a mid-March 2007 letter that announced a "matching gift challenge" offer by a very generous classmate (who wishes to remain anonymous.) Any contribution you make to our Class of '56 Music Scholarship will be matched $ for $ by our supportive.
     
    - Results of "Matching Gift Challenge.

        Our terrific final "Challenge" contribution total is $9,632. We achieved 137% of our $7,000 "Challenge" Goal!  This is a wonderful response!
     
    - First Recipient.
