Membership is solicited for all veterans who served during wartime and were honorably discharged. If you have ever received a veterans benefit, you should belong to the American Legion.
The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, mutual help, wartime veterans organization.
It is a community-service organization which now numbers approximately 2.9 million members in nearly 15,000 American Legion Post worldwide.
